Scott Miller at The Damascus Mill and Inn
The Damascus Old Mill Inn includes a charming historic 12-room inn located in what is regarded as one of the most beautiful settings in Virginia. The hotel also has a large full service restaurant with three outdoor decks overlooking the mill waterfall, a relaxing pub, and a special events room for groups of up to 125 people. http://damascusinn.com/
The Man and I don't normally have the opportunity to just take off and "go out" for a few reasons. The reasons are not set in stone or something that we could not change if we would both just PLAN! But that is one thing that I have figured out over the years that I have been married to this complex man, he is not a planner! He is spontaneous and "plans" really take the fun out of anything for him. I will be the first to admit I too am not a great planner, well I plan, but I am a better "stray away from the plan person. Frustrating, yes, I am sure to everyone but I know that is my ONLY fault...so I will own it. I can look back through our history and I can say without a doubt that I had some really good times on the spur of the moment. I love spontaneous people and I love planners!
Back to Scott Miller at the Mill...
Saturday afternoon I told My Man that I really wanted to go out! I wanted to get dressed up and go out with him on a date. We could not really come up with anything where that we wanted to go or do but we wanted to go somewhere that we would not run into a pile of people that we knew. (Small town problems) We took off to our one of our favorite towns Damascus, Virginia and went into a little dive bar that had great music playing. (I am going to try to find who this band was and try to catch them this summer.) We had couple of beers in this empty bar and I do mean empty bar with this great band playing (plus the lead singer was sexy, sexy and yes she was a female) and we decided we would walk over to the Mill. It was early and the dive bar did not have a cover so off we went to get dessert and come back when a few more people came out and we could dance. (shy me) . When we closer to The Mill, we saw a parking lot of cars and the marquee said Scott Miller http://www.thescottmiller.com/miller2013_tour.html. We went into the bar and ordered the best chocolate cake and a couple of drinks. The bartender said she was not familiar with Scott Miller but as soon as they advertised him they sold a hundred tickets. We ask the crowd that was growing and every single person recommended him and a few even said "he will change your life". Now I am up for anything that could possibly change my life for $10 a life.
I am a full fledged Scott Miller fan now. I encourage you if you have the opportunity go see him...he will change your life for at least a couple of hours! Americana, blues, rock, songs about life and growing pains as we all face the inevitable love, hurt, marriage, work, and death. His music is regional and references places, events, and life in Southwest Virginia.
My favorite song or one of the many! Enjoy:)
