Bittersweet
I became Mabel, I wanted to be a Winslow. I laid on the rocks and smelled the damp decay of the forest as I read each page. I knew that Mabel was as damaged as the Winslows she investigated but this part of the story fell short for me. It was light in details and sketchy to be the pivotal point in her future, not only as a young girl, but in her selection as Ev's roommate by her mother. I devoured this wonderful book in a weekend and have missed May and Ev. My heart ached for Abby and John. I rated Bittersweet five stars for several reasons: A great storyline, I became attached to the characters, and I traveled to camp, laid on the rocks, and swam in the coves. I have recommended it to several friends and book clubs.
