Laura Lane McNeal, thank you for my favorite summer read! I could not put it down and read the entire day at the pool.  I was in New Orleans with Ibby, Doll, Fannie, Queenie, and a few life size dolls.  Laura Lane McNeal weaves a beautiful tender story of a time in history when the color of your skin determined your future, loss, and family secrets with a southern voice that is smooth and easy to read.  Throw in gambling on everything including "chicken dropping", and the Vietnam War and you have a great story.  Read this book!
